Wow! I cannot believe we have reached the beginning of another year. 2018 saw me visit 5 new countries in 12 months, begin learning 2 new languages, complete another course and meet my favourite yellow bear.
I begun with An Italian Adventure – What a start to 2018. If you’d told Aisha at 28 that in 2 years she’d visit 5 new countries in 2018 she’d of laughed at you. But that’s exactly what I did.
I begun my year teaching English in Italy. The country was sublime and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit such a beautiful country, filled with equally beautiful people. The work was okay, but I went for the experience and that was my main aim. I made new friends, explored Amalfi, Positiano, Agropli. Spent time in art galleries and museums and even learned some of the local lingo.
August saw me turn 30! I spent it in what I feel was the best possible way. Surround by a few family members and a wealth of amazing Disney characters. Disney world Florida was everything I could possibly of dreamed of and more. I rode some amazing rides, enjoyed copious amounts of Florida sunshine and dined with everyone’s favourite yellow bear – Winnie the pooh.
I am incredibly blessed to have experienced time teaching in Poland too and although I didn’t see the school year through, I am incredibly proud to of completed a young learners course, meet some wonderful people and also had time to hope skip across to Germany for a long weekend where Mr. Slovak joined me.
My biggest achievement was keeping the love alive in my relationship. Mr. Slovak and I worked hard to keep our relationship going via face time and the odd opportunities we had to visit each other or meet halfway somewhere new. I am incredibly proud we made it this far. I’d be lying if I said it was all hunky dory for the duration because it wasn’t. But for the most part we made it through without tearing our hair out.
So…2019? Big things to come. I sometimes feel its good to keep quiet about my goals for 2019, the struggles are real enough without having anyone in your ear telling you how hard it is and sometimes (without realising) putting doubts in your already fragile mind. But there are some goals I will work towards. Firstly preparing for my big move to Holland.
Yes finally, a year and a half on and Mr. Slovak and I are finally culling long distance in favour of a life exploring the world together. Wish us luck! We will be keeping you updated on the house project progress. Maybe Mr.Slovak will make a few appearances on the blog this year. Wish us luck.
