Body: My body is God’s temple

Disclaimer: This blog post in no way means to call out on women of different body shapes, size and weights or those that simply do not enjoy exercise or cannot for various health reasons. I just merely mean to explain why I enjoy exercise and my spiritual reasons behind it.*

Last time I discussed my thoughts on why I love to learn and why knowledge should not just be gained but shared.

I’m small. Pretty much all over and I enjoy exercising. I’d say I’ve gotten more into exercise in the past few months and find myself more energised since going vegan.

As a Christian I believe that your body is a vessel for your spirit. God gave me my body to house my spirit and the least I can do is care for my body until it returns to the ground. I’ve been following the Vegan Aesthetics workout program and meal plan for 9 months now and have seen such an improvement in my body shape and muscle form. I had wanted to get fit and stronger for a while and finally found a way to do it that is sustainable.

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

20 You were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.

(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Naturally Stefanie works really hard to come up with fun exercise regimes and has both gym and home work out plans, along with meal plans which she always encourages anyone using her plan to swap and change ingredients to suit their tastes. I always like to mix it up a bit. She also has a successful YouTube channel check that out here.

But now I’ve been doing the program for a while, I like to make work outs my own. Using different eliminates from naturally Stefanie, Autumn Calabrese’s 21 day fix and Pick Up Limes meal plans a fantastic YouTuber I stumbled upon this summer, run by the wonderful Sadia..

It is always harder to maintain the body that I love on me during the winter months. The colds set in and the dark nights make me want to reach more for the comfy pyjamas rather that the sport bra and leggings.

But then I look at the beginning pictures of my health and fitness journey and think yes, you are on track to having the body you love and you are happy in. Also, a body that you can keep healthy and live doing whatever gifting in life God has for me. I can only be as strong in my mind and body as I wish to be if I put the hard work in, and for me keeping physically strong is of as much importance as a strong mind.

Christmas tends to be the season of over eating and drinking and whilst I intend to not deny myself treats, I will aim to reign it in a tad and prepare for all the exciting things that will be happening in the new year.

What do you do to keep fit and healthy? Do you reign in the treats even around the Christmas period? Or do you like a bit of gluttony? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
